As part of the process of building a vertically integrated aggregates group, Unigran Group has recently consolidated its drilling and blasting activities, together with its explosives production into a separate business line. These functions are now fully managed by Unigran-Service LLC, which supplies explosives and provides drilling and blasting services to the Group’s quarries, as well as to external customers across the whole territory of Ukraine.
The quality of drilling and blasting works is essential for aggregates extraction, as they have a significant influence on the key production factors including: obtainable fractions, volume of fines as a by-product, the quantity of explosives used, etc. Using state of the art technology and equipment, our experienced team provides the highest quality professional drilling and blasting services.
Currently the Group has a fleet of modern high-performance Atlas Copco drills which allow for greater efficiency with lower labor costs. For blasting works Unigran-Service LLC uses a proprietary emulsion explosive branded as “Granemit” which has important competitive features such as: high energy potential, high water resistance, eco-friendliness, and safety. Granemit does not pollute groundwater during the charging of boreholes, it does not contain TNT, it produces 10 times lower emissions of harmful gases, and it can be safely transported in the form of separate components only becoming activated following a chemical reaction during the mixing and loading process. For charging we use mobile plants from the TREAD Corporation which are based on a Volvo chassis and are highly efficient and maneuverable. These factors allow us to maximize economic benefits and reduce the cost of our drilling and blasting works substantially, as well as being able to offer the same benefits to other quarry operators engaged in the extraction of rocks and non-ore minerals.
